Sorry to take so long to respond, Robin. My iMac crashed---hard drive dead. And buried. Everything lost. But that's another story, full of angst and woe. Anyway, what's interesting about this particular bunch of Irises is that they bloom at night. They stay in bloom during the day, obviously, but their first full-tilt boogie bloom was around midnight. I'll have to ask my landscape artiste if she has any plans to grow the purple variety!
